VANESSA TAMARIT

As a native of North Bergen, New Jersey, my proximity to the bustling life of New York City has deeply influenced my artistic journey. Raised within the vibrant energy of the city, my work is a testament to the stories untold amidst the everyday. With a BFA in Photography from Parsons School of Design and an upcoming MFA in Photo, Video, and Related Media from the School of Visual Arts, my academic and professional journey has been a quest to capture the essence of human interaction and connection.

My photography work encapsulates the fleeting moments of sincerity, struggle, and joy that define our public existence. The roots of my Afro-Cuban heritage deeply influence my exploration of community, culture, and identity. Throughout my work, I aim to celebrate the rich tapestry of my ancestry while examining the complexities of identity in the modern world.

In tackling current social issues, my objective is to illuminate the nuances of our societal landscape. Whether it's capturing the vibrancy of grassroots movements or the quiet despair in the eyes of the marginalized, my work seeks to provoke thought, empathy, and action.

Extending beyond the realm of still images, my ventures into video—spanning from fine art pieces to music videos and reality TV—reflect my versatile narrative capabilities.

My commitment to social betterment through art is evident in my collaboration with non-profit organizations. By lending my skills to causes such as Lupus y Latinos and Easterseals, I aspire to contribute to a world where art not only reflects reality but actively shapes it towards inclusivity and understanding.

Proficiency in tools like Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite, coupled with fluency in English and Spanish, enables me to engage with a diverse audience and navigate the complexities of the modern digital landscape. My work across various events and professional settings underscores my adaptability and dedication to capturing life's significant moments, whether they're deeply personal or broadly shared.

As I continue to evolve as an artist, my goal remains steadfast: to use my camera as a tool for empathy, connection, and change. Through the intricate dance of light and shadow, I seek to unveil the stories that unite us, challenge us, and inspire us to envision a more compassionate world.
